Liverpool  will have one hand on the English Premier League title if they can muster a win against Chelsea  at Anfield on Sunday night (AEST). The Reds have a 5-point lead at the top of the table with three games to go, but breathing down their necks are Manchester City, who are six points adrift but have a game in hand and a superior goal difference. Chelsea can mathematically win the league if they beat the Reds on Sunday, but they will need results to go their way in the final two match days.

Chelsea head into this match off a 0-0  Champions League draw away to Athletico Madrid. Jose Mourinho was left fuming last week after watching his team lose 2-1  to bottom of the table Sunderland. The Blues will be sweating over the fitness of attacking duo Eden Hazard and Samuel Eto. The pair missed their midweek clash due to injury and their absence will be a massive blow for the Londoners.

The last time Brendan Rogers’  team lost a Premier League match was some 17 matches ago. Since then they have been unstoppable, winning 14 and drawing twice. One thing worth mentioning, though, is that defeat 17 matches ago was against Chelsea, losing 2-1  at Stamford Bridge. The two players who scored against the side that day were the injured duo , Hazard and Eto, that are fighting to be fit by Sunday.

This game promises to be a cagey, tight affair. With so much riding on the game for both sides, neither will be willing to give anything away. If Liverpool can extend their undefeated run to 17 matches, they will almost certainly be crowned champions of England for the first time since 1990.
