SCG, Sunday April 13, 1:10pm (AEST)

Why watch?

Are the Swans back to their best and are North Melbourne are a legitimate finals contender?

These two sides have been tough to gauge through the opening three weeks and this match should provide answers to both those questions. One of the pre-season premiership fancies, Sydney will desperate to build on last week's first win of the season against Adelaide. Star recruit Lance Franklin produced his best game for his new club with four goals and will be keen for another big outing. The Kangaroos have posted two scrappy wins and have the chance to not only improve to 3-1 but also get a game up on potentially one of their top eight rivals come the end of the season.

Match notes

- The Kangaroos are ranked 17th in contested possessions
- Jamie Macmillan is facing six weeks out due to a fractured leg
- Lance Franklin will make his SCG debut as a Swan. He managed 15 goals in five games at the venue as a Hawk
- Brent Harvey will play his 366th match, which takes him up to equal seventh with Bernie Quinlan on the all-time games record list
- Harvey and Sydney coach John Longmire played 36 times together including the 1999 premiership

Say what?

"I've played with Boomer and he's still playing well. He's a really, really top-line player,'' Longmire said. "He'll go down in history at the North Melbourne Football Club as one of the all-time greats. He's still playing at an extremely high level and still a thorn in opposition teams' sides. He's not just getting through his career, he's getting better and better at times. I'm not sure what he's eating but I might have to get on that diet."

Fantasy factoid

After collecting 13 disposals as the substitute against the Western Bulldogs in Round 2, Levi Greenwood had a massive 34 touches, 11 marks and seven tackles in a full game against the Power last week.

Cold hard fact

The Swans have beaten North Melbourne the past seven times and haven't lost to them in Sydney since 2004.

Final Word

A lot of people were quick to write Sydney off after their slow start to the season, but last week's emphatic win over Adelaide silenced some of those critics. They still have a bit of work to do, but a win against North here will have their season back on level terms. Back at the SCG will suit their game and you just can't back against them there.
