The Sydney Thunder look to continue the Melbourne Renegades poor start to season when they travel south of the border on Tuesday (AEST).

The Renegades may not be off to a winning start this season, but they continue to improve the more the season progresses. Their first round loss to once title favourites, the Sydney Sixers , was a hammering, losing by 8 wickets. But their Boxing Day game against reigning champs, the Perth Scorchers , showed glimpses of improvement, losing by only 35 runs. Callum Ferguson has been a standout with the bat in the opening two rounds, knocking 79 runs off 60 balls and continue to show promise in the Most Runs market .

The Thunder started their season off with a bang, smashing the Brisbane Heat by 56 runs and only dropping one wicket. The partnership between former international batsmen Mike Hussey and Jaques Kallis of 193 proved to be cornerstone of their success against their interstate rivals. But when they needed to back it up against the Sixers on home soil, both Hussey and Jaques managed only 20 between them.  If it wasn’t for Aiden Blizzard , who smashed 80 runs off 42 balls, the Thunder would have lost by a lot more than 16 runs.

This has become a must win game for the Renegades. A loss here means they will continue to not only lose touch with the top sides, but also drift in the futures market . The matchup of the night will no doubt be between Melbourne captain Aaron Finch and Thunder’s hit man Mike Hussey , with both men out to prove a point.
