The 6ers and Renegades clash in Sydney on Friday night in the second game of the new Big Bash League.

Sydney were one of the best sides in last season’s Big Bash, finishing second on the overall standings and losing their Semi-Final to eventual winners Perth by just five runs. Due to the test series between Australia and India, a number of their big guns will miss this clash. Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Brad Haddin are just a few they will be without, however they do have the services of a familiar face. Brett Lee, one of the greatest fast bowlers to wear the baggy green, throws on the pink 6ers shirt for another summer and he’s to claim the most wickets for Sydney.

After finishing on top of the table in the 2012/13 season, the Renegades struggled in the last instalment of the Big Bash, managing just three wins out of eight matches. After last season’s failure, the Melbourne outfit have worked overtime in the offseason to coup some big names, and a couple of interesting additions have been made. Wicket-keeper Matthew Wade made the switch from city rivals Melbourne Stars, while hard-hitter Callum Ferguson joins from Adelaide Strikers. Having the reputation as one of the best batters in the short form of the game, the Renegades will rely on Aaron Finch to form a healthy score, and he’s in the most runs market.

The Renegades are short-priced favourites to get the job done in Sydney, and when you compare the line-ups, it’s easy to see why. The Sixers have a long list of absentees to contend with, while the Renegades have the luxury of fielding a full-strength squad.
