Chelsea kick off Round 16 of the EPL against Hull City on Sunday morning (AEST).

The Blues slumped to their first loss of the season last weekend, and at the hands of an unlikely source. Newcastle was the side that prevailed 2-1 in a win made even more impressive considering they had to do it with 10 men. Jose Mourinho knows his side must get back to winning ways to avoid the two Manchester clubs bridging the gap at the top of the table, and a win over Hull will dismiss any panic within the camp. They will have to do it, however, without star playmaker Cesc Fabregas. The Spaniard picked up his fifth yellow card of the season last week and misses this one through suspension.

From what we’ve seen so far this season, it seems as though Hull City will be in another dogfight to avoid relegation in 2014/15. The Tigers currently occupy 18th spot on the ladder, although a win in the nation’s capital on Sunday would see them leapfrog up to four teams. First choice strikers Nikica Jelavic and Abel Hernandez have both struggled with injuries this season, however they’re both likely inclusions in Steve Bruce’s starting eleven. Hatem Ben Arfa has also been injury-prone early on, however he’s in line to return after missing Hull’s last two matches.

In football, losing can be as much of a habit as winning, and it’s vital Chelsea get the three points here. They enter the match as short-priced favourites, and with star striker Diego Costa back to full fitness, expect him to lead from the front and possibly nab the first goal .
