It was Derby Day delight for Manuel Pelligrini’s men last time out, who tasted victory over cross-town rivals United on Sunday night (AEST). The 1-0 win kept them in touch of the EPL’s leading pack, and it’s the same story ahead of Thursday’s clash in Europe’s elite competition. The Sky Blues sit in third spot in Group E and remain winless in Europe this season. David Silva will look on from the sidelines as he continues to recover from a knee injury, although it’s likely talented French playmaker Samir Nasri will be the like-for-like replacement.

CSKA Moscow managed to snatch a 2-2 draw against City a fortnight ago, with a late penalty from Bibras Natkho sealing their first point in Group E. The Russian giants head into this clash off the back of a disappointing loss to RPL rivals Zenit St. Petersberg, but they will feel they have a chance of causing another upset to the English champions. Ivory Coast international Seydou Doumbia found the net against City last time out, and he’s the man that Vincent Kompany and co must try and contain.

Despite drawing two weeks ago, Manchester City are the overwhelming favourites to ease past the Russians. The price in the head-to-head market doesn’t have much value, and punters may be inclined to take City at the -1.5 line .
