It’s the final race of the season, and it’s shaping up to be the most crucial. There’s much more than just the Abu Dhabi GP at stake on Sunday night, with Mercedes duo Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg set to battle it out for the Drivers Championship. This weekend’s season finale has extra significance as points awarded to drivers are doubled.

Hamilton currently sits on top of the Drivers Championship, 17 points clear of his German teammate. You would think the only way Hamilton would lose the personal honours to Rosberg would come down to personal error or mechanical issues. The Englishman has enjoyed a stellar campaign with Mercedes, however he has retired in three GP’s. When he finishes races, however, it’s always on the podium.

Rosberg kept his Drivers Championship dream alive with a win over Hamilton in the Brazilian GP. The 29-year-old took pole in qualifying and there was no stopping him from there. With double points up for grabs, the gap between himself and Hamilton is certainly within reach, however he will have to finish in the top two at least and hope his teammate runs into trouble.

The only other driver punters want in this race is Red Bull’s Daniel Ricciardo . The Australian has three GPs to his name already this campaign, and he’s the only other driver besides the Mercedes duo to finish on top of the podium in 2014. A win in the UAE would put the cherry on top of what has been a sensational season for the 25-year-old, with 2015 shaping up to be a promising year for the man from Perth.
