Heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko takes on Number 1 contender Kubrat Pulev in Germany on Sunday morning (AEST) in a bid to make it 21 consecutive wins.

Klitschko is on the verge as going down as one of the greatest heavyweight boxers of all time. In 65 bouts, he has lost just three times with 52 knockouts to his name. On top of recording his 21st successive win, the Ukrainian is also set to defend his title for the 16th consecutive time. His long reach and quick feet is the reason for his dominance in the heavyweight boxing division over the past few years, and there's no doubt he'll use the same tactics against Pulev this weekend. In his last six fights, he has only had to go the distance twice , having knocked down his opponents by the sixth round on four occasions. His latest victim in the ring was the Samoan-born Aussie Alex Leapai, with that fight ending in the fifth round.

Kubrat Pulev is a boxer on the rise. The Bulgarian first turned pro in 2009 following a successful stint as an amateur boxer, winning gold multiple times at the European Championships. Since his debut, he has gone 20-0, winning 11 of those bouts by knockout and claiming the IBF International Heavyweight title in 2011. His last fight was against Croatian Ivica Perkovic, in which he disposed of the challenger with ease, forcing Perkovic to retire in the third round. Standing at 6’5’ and weighing in at over 113 kilos, he is Klitschko’s biggest opponent since Mariusz Wach back in 2012.

Pulev has proved time and time again he can go the distance . He has also become one of the best boxers at close range, with opponents finding it incredibly difficult to clinch the Ukrainian beast. For those that brave the early start on Sunday morning, it will be worth it! This bout is shaping up to be a classic between two of the most powerful boxers in the world.
