Bentleigh remain the last non A-league side left in the FFA Cup, and they host Perth on Tuesday night with a place in the final at stake.

It’s been an incredible journey for the Victorian NPL side so far in the cup, and they’ve got nothing to lose when they come up against the A-league front-runners in the south Melbourne suburb of Cheltenham. The Greens were $251 when the futures market opened, however their impressive run has seen them firm into to win the first installment of the competition. When you take a closer look at the state league side’s squad, it’s easy to see where their success has come from. Two of their key players in Liam McCormick and Luke Pilkington are past winners of the reality TV show Football Superstar, and the duo know what to expect on Tuesday night as they both possess experience of playing in the A-league.

The 2014-15 season has begun promising for Glory fans, with their side sitting on top of the A-league ladder and in pole position to qualify for the final of the cup. Kenny Lowe’s men haven’t had an easy passage to get themselves where they are though, requiring wins over fellow A-league sides Newcastle and Melbourne along with Victorian second-tier side St Albans Saints. New signing Andy Keogh is the joint top goal scorer in the FFA Cup with five goals in three games for the Glory, and he’s the favourite to find the net first on Tuesday night.

The dream for Bentleigh is well and truly alive, however the bookies aren’t giving them much of a chance on Tuesday night. Perth played in the A-league on Sunday afternoon and must overcome fatigue and travel if they’re to book a spot in the FFA Cup final.
