Man United host Everton on Sunday night (AEST) looking to climb up the EPL ladder.

With a pair of losses, draws and wins after the opening six rounds, the Red Devils head into Sunday night’s clash in seventh spot on the table and eight points adrift of front runners Chelsea. Louis Van Gaal’s men showed the determination that's been missing last time out, holding on to defeat West Ham 2-1 last week. Their task was made harder following a red card to captain Wayne Rooney, and the former Evertonian will miss the chance to line up against his former side this weekend as he serves a suspension.

Everton have so far failed to live up to lofty expectations set by last year’s league performance, and they sit struggling in 15th with just one win to their name. The Toffees looked dead and buried in the Merseyside derby last week at Anfield, however a stoppage-time wonder goal from Phil Jagielka salvaged a 1-1 draw for Roberto Martinez’s men. It was only his seventh goal for the club since 2007, and he’s to find the net first at OId Trafford.

Everton have been United’s bogey team in recent years, notching just one win in the past five matches. The Toffees won 2-0 the last time the two sides met in the league, however it’s the Red Devils that begin as firm favourites despite the absence of their captain.
