Australia must put a disastrous first test behind them as they travel to Abu Dhabi for the second match against Pakistan .

The Aussies were humbled in the opening test of the five match series, falling to a 221-run loss to ‘The Green Shirts’. Australia’s batsmen couldn’t cope with the slow spinners on a turning pitch, and that’s the exact part of their game they must improve ahead of Thursday. David Warner gave green and gold fans reason to hope in the first innings with an impressive 133-run performance, however he had no help from his teammates in that department. Warner could only manage 29 runs in the second innings, but he remains the favourite to register the most runs for Australia in the first innings.

There’s no doubt it was Pakistan’s spinners that set them up for victory in the opening test, however it was their destructive batting performance that won them the game. Veteran slogger Younus Khan hit a century in both innings to contribute 209 runs to Pakistan’s total. Ahmed Shehzad and Sarfraz Ahmed also registered centuries in the thrashing, however it was Zulfiqar Babar and debutant Yasir Shah that did the damage with the ball. Both claimed seven wickets each in the first test, however Babar is the slight favourite to rack up the most wickets for Pakistan in the first innings.

Australia opened as favourites ahead of the second test, however support coming in for the Baggie Green has been few and far between. Punters are seeing value in the outsiders Pakistan, with a couple of big bets of $1000 and $800 coming in at the $3.50 quote.
