Two A-league sides that have impressed early on meet as the Glory host the Victory in the FFA Cup on Wednesday night.

Perth tasted defeat for the first time this season on the weekend, losing 2-0 in Adelaide to the Reds. It was a spirited performance by Kenny Lowe’s men, however they must put that behind them and recover from the short three-day turn around ahead of Wednesday’s clash. Lucky for them, they were drawn as the home side and have the luxury of playing in front of the purple and white faithful at nib Stadium. Defender Josh Risdon and winger Chris Harold missed the weekend trip to Adelaide through injury, and they remain major doubts for the knock-out tie.

The Victory came from behind twice in Saturday night’s Melbourne Derby to see off City 5-2 in an entertaining affair. That result catapulted them into first on the A-league table and no doubt would have boosted their confidence levels too. Kevin Muscat’s job now is to get his players fit and ready in time for the elimination Quarter-Final in Perth. Besart Berisha netted a hat-trick in both the Melbourne Derby on the weekend and the Victory’s last FFA Cup match against Tuggeranong United, and he’s the favourite to score first on Wednesday.

Melbourne are the slight favourites in a game that will test the depth of their squad. Perth may have lost on the weekend, but they are more than capable of downing the Victory. Punters, however, are sticking with the favourites, with a number of bets, including one of $500, coming in for the visitors.
