Gold Coast 600 Contenders

Car 1 - Jamie Whincup and Paul Dumbrell

Following their agonizing finish at Bathurst (5th) when they ran out of fuel, Jamie Whincup and Paul Dumbrell are favourites to bounce back around the Gold Coast streets. They lead the Enduro Series after taking the chequered flag in the Sandown 500, but didn't do much at this event last year (DNF & 4th). Jamie don't forget to check your petrol gauge!

Car 888 - Craig Lowndes and Steve Richards

This powerful pairing finished 10th at Bathurst, after a crash in practice didn't help their cause and they were barely able to make it to the start. They were fourth at Sandown. Lowndes at least has recent form on the Coast circuit having won Race 1 last year, but that was with Warren Luff. Lowndes is always a threat!

Car 2 - Garth Tander and Warren Luff

This pair finished third at Sandown, before a crash in practice ended their race before it began at Bathurst. With the Commodore suffering major damage, crews weren't able to repair it in time, so Tander and Luff were reduced to spectators for the great race. Point to prove!

Car 22 - James Courtney and Greg Murphy

Currently third in the Enduro Series, these two cagey drivers were runners-up at Sandown. However, they lost touch with the top-two following a 13th placing at Mount Panorama. Keen to for race action!

Car 16 - Scott Pye and Ash Walsh

Scott Pye and Ash Walsh are a couple of young guns looking to make a name for themselves. Coming from 19th on the grid to finish fifth at Sandown was a terrific effort. But at Bathurst, they managed just 70 laps before crashing out. Avoid the barriers!

Car 5 - Mark Winterbottom and Steve Owen

The pair slipped from third on the grid to finish tenth at Sandown. Then at Bathurst qualified second only to end up sixth. That doesn't read well, but if Frosty can put the Ford high on the grid, this is a hard circuit to make moves on. Big finish needed!

Car 33 - Scott McLaughlin and Alex Premat

These guys finished Bathurst in 17th spot, but 11 laps down on the Top 10. At Sandown, they also showed speed before dropping out to finish 8th. Swedish squibs?

Car 15 - Rick Kelly and David Russell

This combo enjoyed a top 10 finish at Bathurst (8th) and ended up 13th in the Sandown 500. The Nissans will suprise one day, but the Coast event might be a little too soon. Near Nissans!

Car 9 - Will Davison and Alex Davison

This is another new pairing. After finishing closer to last than first at Sandown (21st), this outfit threatened a massive upset at Bathurst. As the casualty list grew and other teams wrestled with fuel problems, Car 9 was ultra impressive, eventually finishing fourth. The Davisons are seventh on the Enduro Series ladder after a dreadful start. Betty's buoyant Benz!
