Future Hall-of-Famer Peyton Manning is just three touchdown passes away from breaking the NFL record when Denver host San Francisco on Monday (AEST).

It was always known that Manning was destined for big things. After just 246 games, he is on the verge of achieving a huge milestone. His three touchdown passes in the Broncos' 31-17 victory over the Jets last week has put him in prime position to become the League’s all-time touchdown passer. It will be no surprise if he gets help from tight end Julius Thomas, who has caught nine of Manning’s 15 touchdown passes this season. As Manning continues his impressive form, which includes 716 yards off 53 passes with a player rating of 113.3, his side's Super Bowl chances continue to grow, shortening to in the futures market.

It has been a slow start to the season for San Fran, but it seems they are starting to find their feet. After two straights losses, the 49ers have strung three wins together and aren't showing any signs of slowing down. Last week against the Rams, they finished with a season-high of 432 yards and finally posted 30 points on the scoreboard. The Broncos must be wary of running back Frank Gore, who has made over 400 rushing yards this season, ranking eighth in the League, and always looks dangerous behind the line of scrimmage.

It has been four long years since these two went head-to-head, and Manning has never faced the 49ers in a Broncos jersey. If both team's offence play the way they did last week, punters will be lining up to take the overs (50.5) in this one .
