Perth and Brisbane clash at nib Stadium on Sunday afternoon in what is expected to be another fiery contest between the rivals.

The Roar were on track to get their title defence off to a flyer when Thomas Broich found the net from a free kick, however they ended up stumbling to a defeat at home at the hands of Adelaide. A lot of talk in the off-season surrounded last season’s champions and how they would cope with the absence of key players, and last weekend's loss has already seen their price slip in the A-league futures market. Former captain Matt McKay will miss the trip west after seeing red in the opening match, paving the way for former Sydney FC midfielder winger Kofi Danning.

Perth got off to the perfect start in Wellington last week as a late Jamie Maclaren goal sealed a 2-1 win for the men in purple. The Glory worked overtime in the offseason to bolster their midfield, and it’s a case of so far so good for manager Kenny Lowe. Mitch Nichols faces the club he debuted in the A-league for, while Andy Keough looks to continue his rich vein of form in front of goal against the champions. The Irish import scored first in Wellington last Sunday, and he’s the equal favourite to repeat that feat this weekend.

As the market suggests, punters are having a tough time finding a winner ahead of Sunday’s clash. The Roar won two of the three fixtures in the 2013-14 campaign, with the other match ending in a 0-0 stalemate.
