$16.6M Powerball winners are 'living a dream' today!

Friday, 17 October 2014 - A Victorian man and a Melbourne couple have claimed their division one prizes of $16.67 million from last night’s $50 million Powerball jackpot draw!

A Tatts official spoke with the winners this morning about what it’s like to have the power to change it all thanks to Powerball.

A man in Victoria who purchased his winning Powerball ticket online from Tatts.com said he plans to share his good fortune and has chosen to remain anonymous.

“I’m still in disbelief…I don’t need that amount of money, it’s too much for me!” he told a Tatts official today.

“I’m going to share the prize money with my family. I’ll make sure it doesn’t change who I am but I’ll definitely be able to live a better lifestyle, with a few more toys!” he laughed.

“I love being out on the water so I’ll buy myself a boat and a jet ski, and my kids have been wanting the new iPhone 6 so they can have that now and I might spoil them each with a new car.”

The Victorian man purchased his Powerball 50-game entry online from Tatts.com and has claimed a division one prize of $16,666,666.67.

The winning wife in the suburb of Rowville in Melbourne said she and her husband are literally living a dream today after their ticket won them more than $16.6 million overnight.

“We’ve dreamed of this but you never think it’s going to happen to you,” she said emotionally this morning.

“Late last night I saw an ad for Powerball on TV while I was sitting on the couch so I jumped online to check the winning numbers.

“When I saw that we had all of them I was so shocked, I ran to the bedroom where my husband was asleep and I turned on the light and was waving the Powerball ticket in his face to wake him up!” she laughed.

“He thought it was literally a dream – me standing there yelling we won Powerball! He still couldn’t believe it when he woke up this morning.”

The Rowville winners are thinking carefully about how to use their prize money and have chosen to remain anonymous.

They purchased their division one winning Powerball System 7 QuickPick entry from Stud Park Lotto, Kiosk 3 in Stud Park Shopping Centre on Stud Road in Rowville.

They have claimed a division one prize of $16,666,666.67 and multiple divisional prizes for a total of $16,702,843.37.

A Powerball player in Western Australia who purchased their ticket from Padbury News and Post will also claim a prize of $16.6 million from last night’s Powerball draw.

Along with the out-of-this-world $50 million division one Powerball jackpot prize more than 1 million prizes were won across Australia in divisions two to seven, with those winners sharing in a prize pool of $27 million.
