San Francisco travel to Missouri on Tuesday (AEST) to face St Louis in a match that could determine coach Jim Harbaugh’s future.

With all the drama surrounding Harbaugh’s future at the club, San Francisco might find it hard to concentrate on Tuesday’s game. The coach’s head has been on the chopping block for the better part of a month after a slow start to the season, which included losses to the Cardinals and Bears. However following consecutive victories against Philadelphia and Kansas City, he might be close to a reprieve. Heading into this game, the 49ers are third in the League in rushing yards per game (145) and fourth for passing yards allowed (205.6). Running back Frank Gore has been one of San Fran’s best all season, with 365 yards off 77 carries, and he'll be hard to stop on Tuesday.

The Rams are looking down the barrel of three straight losses and are struggling to find consistency this season. They may be first in the League for passing yards allowed (192.3), but it is their rushing yards allowed (152.5) that is proving to be their biggest concern. If they are any chance of claiming a victory, they need to shut down Gore and the 49ers' offensive backfield. The shining light for the Rams is the emergence of rookie quarterback Austin Davis, who almost stole a victory against the Eagles last week by scoring 21 points in the final quarter. His combination with wide receiver Brian Quick will no doubt be on San Fran’s radar, given they have combined for 322 yards off 21 receptions and three touchdowns.

The 49ers have won five of their past six matches against the Rams, including a double over them both last season. Given that games between the two sides are generally low scoring affairs, taking the unders (43.5) in this one will definitely be popular with TattsBet punters.
