Australian racing fans will get their first look at well-credentialed import Sea Moon  on the weekend when he has his first Australian start in the Makybe Diva Stakes at Flemington on Saturday. Although the former Lloyd Williams owned galloper is yet to win at the highest level, he has won five of his ten starts, with one of those a dominant victory over Dunaden, Red Cadeaux and Fiorente in the Hardwicke Stakes at Royal Ascot last year. He also has placings in the English St Leger – behind new stablemate and fellow Makybe Diva Stakes runner Masked Marvel - and 2011 Breeders Cup Turf on his resume. With retained rider Brett Prebble suspended, Craig Williams takes the ride on Sea Moon, with Steven Arnold aboard Masked Marvel  and Chad Schofield getting the leg-up on Sydney Cup winner Mourayan  for the stable.

A total of eight group one winners have accepted for the race but leading contender Puissance De Lune  is yet to win at the top level. The reigning Melbourne Cup favourite has won seven of his ten starts for Darren Weir since coming over from France and resumed with an effortless victory in P.B Lawrence Stakes at Caulfield last month.

Leading Sydney trainer Chris Waller sends Ranvet Stakes winner Foreteller  south for the 1600m feature, while last year’s placegetters Manighar  and Moudre  will also line up in the $350,000 contest. Tuscan Fire , Bit Of Hell  and Let’s Make A Deal  have all been thrown in the deep end for this assignment, but a big run will be expected from 2011 German Derby winner Waldpark , who makes his Australian debut in the race.

Group One winners Ethiopia , December Draw  and Mr Moet  complete the field, with the latter out to improve on a strong first up record that has seen him win three of his five races fresh from a spell.
