The Perth Scorchers  go in search of their first victory at this year’s Champions League Twenty20 tournament when they face the unbeaten Rajasthan Royals  at Jaipur on Sunday night (AEST). After their opening game of the tournament was abandoned without a ball being bowled, the Scorchers suffered a humiliating 62 run defeat against the Otago Volts on Wednesday after being set a mammoth target of 243 to win.

Only Hilton Cartwright  provided any real resistance with the bat for Perth against the New Zealand champions after scoring an unbeaten 68 and coach Justin Langer may choose to draft veteran top order batsman Marcus North  into his XI. The 34 year-old was only drafted into the squad as a late replacement for injured opener Shaun Marsh but his experience would be a big plus for a side also without international players Mike Hussey, Mitch Marsh, Nathan Coulter-Nile and Alfonso Thomas.

Rajasthan is two from two in the competition to date after recording big wins over the Mumbai Indians and Lions, with much of the Indian Premier League champion’s success built on the work of its Australian trio. Shane Watson  and Brad Hodge  have both scored plenty of runs for their side in the middle order, while Tasmanian allrounder James Faulkner was the leading wicket taker for the franchise in the IPL last season.
