Peter Snowden is yet to win the Victoria Derby but has a strong chance of taking out the race this year, with three runners set to represent his stable in the race. Spring Champion Stakes winner Complacent  will be the leading chance for the stable following his strong win in the Group One contest over 2000m at Randwick last time out, his third successive victory during this preparation. A son of English Derby winner Authorized, Complacent has three wins and two seconds from five career starts and should relish the step up to 2500m but must contend with a wide draw. Darley will also be represented in the $1.5 million event by Norman Robinson runner-up San Diego  and Tupac Amaru , who was second in the Geelong Classic last week.

Seven of the past eleven Derby winners had their final leadup run in The Vase at Moonee Valley and Savvy Nature , Drago , Tips And Beers  and Pinstripe Lane  come through this year’s renewal, with Savvy Nature looking to turn the tables on Complacent after finishing one and a half lengths behind him in the Spring Champion Stakes. Criterion  split that pair at Randwick and will be ridden by 2007 Derby winning jockey Craig Williams, while Hugh Bowman takes the mount on Polanski , having won the race in 2010 and 2011. Polanski claimed the Norman Robinson at his most recent start and Honey Steel’s Gold , Epic Saga , Surging Wave , Famechon , Bring Something  and Cadillac Mountain  will all be looking to turn the tables on the Robbie Laing trained galloper here after finishing behind him at Caulfield.

Thunder Fantasy  and Throw The King  fared well at the barrier draw but will start at big prices, while second emergency Empire Rock  is unlikely to get a start.
