Fresh from a 3-2  victory over West Bromwich Albion on the weekend, Wigan  can move out of the Premier League ‘drop zone’ by beating Swansea  at the DW Stadium on Wednesday morning (AEST). With Reading and Queens Park Rangers already condemned to life in the Championship next season, Wigan will leapfrog Norwich, Newcastle and Sunderland on the Premier League table with a win to ease the clubs relegation fears.

This is the start of the massive week for the Latics, with this match coming just four days before a showdown with Manchester City in the FA Cup final at Wembley. Defender Jean Beausejour will miss the match after being stretchered off with a hamstring strain on the weekend, but boss Roberto Martinez will be pleased to know that Antonlin Alcaraz is close to returning after recovering from a similar injury. Although Wigan has a rare chance of winning some silverware on the weekend, Martinez is likely to field his strongest available side for this match with anything other than a win making survival in the top flight very difficult.

Leading scorer Michu tweaked a hamstring in his sides draw with Manchester City on the weekend and is likely to miss the remainder of the season meaning that striker Luke Moore could be in line for a rare start after coming off the bench to replace the Spaniard at the Liberty Stadium.

Wigan is yet to beat Swansea in three Premier League meetings, with the Swans scoring a 2-1  victory at home when the teams last met in October. The Latics have won only four of their 17 home matches in the league this season but Swansea has one just one of its eight league games since lifting the Capital One Cup in February.
