Reds Set To Take On Bogy Side

Given the current form of these teams, Western Force’s 19-12 win over Queensland at Suncorp Stadium earlier this season must go down as one of the biggest upsets of the season. After sweeping the New Zealand teams, victory in this match would seem like a fait accompli for the Reds, but their record in Perth is unflattering. They’ve won just once in four starts at nib Stadium, and on their most recent trip west they were unceremoniously thumped 45-19 last year.

Backline star Digby Ioane has confirmed he will be leaving the Reds at season’s end to take up a playing opportunity in France. At least that matter has been put to bed now and the Wallaby flyer can focus on getting his side to the Super Rugby finals again.

The Reds have made three changes to the team which snuck home by one point against the Blues last weekend. Albert Anae comes in to the front row with James Slipper moving to the bench, Dom Shipperley replaces the injured Rod Davies on the wing while flanker Beau Robinson gets his first opportunity in Super Rugby this season off the bench.

Force is dwindling in 13th place with just two wins to its credit, but the team’s other victory this season came against Kiwi powerhouse the Crusaders 16-14 in mid-April. Inconsistency plagues this outfit, but the Perth-based side has shown time and time again that it has the ability to pull off wins when they’re least expected.
