The New South Wales Waratahs will be looking to continue their late season surge up the Super Rugby ladder when they welcome the ACT Brumbies to ANZ Stadium on Saturday night. Three wins from their past four outings have seen Michael Cheika’s side move to eighth in the Super Rugby standings, 11 points behind the pacesetting Brumbies but just four points off the Crusaders, who occupy the third and final wildcard finals spot.
Wallabies flyer Drew Mitchell returns to the starting lineup after coming off the bench in his sides six point win over the Stormers last weekend, while Paddy Ryan has also been elevated the first XV in place of tighthead prop Sekope Kepu.
Scott Sio and Scott Fardy return to the Brumbies starting line-up following the Brumbies disappointing home defeat to the Crusaders a fortnight ago.
While the Waratahs have been in tremendous form of late, Jake White’s Brumbies have won just one of their past three fixtures and are now just a point ahead of the chasing Reds in the Australian conference. Although the Brumbies were 29 point victors when these sides met at Canberra Stadium in March, the ‘Tahs will be confident of turning the tables back on their own turf this weekend, where they have lost just one of their six matches during the current campaign.
