Rosehill Feature Race Preview March 30

Rosehill Guineas (SR6) – It’s A Dundeel  showed a paralysing turn of foot to beat a stronger field than this in the Randwick Guineas last time out and appears to have this Group One contest at his mercy as well, having proven he stays the trip by taking out the Spring Champion Stakes over 2000m during the spring. Tough three year-old Fiveandahalfstar , who finished second in the Ranvet Stakes against older horses last week and is the Kiwi galloper’s main rival, although a decision on his participation in the race won’t be made until Saturday morning. Victorian visitor Hvasstan  put in an impressive performance to win the Alister Clark Stakes at Moonee Valley a fortnight ago and warrants respect having finished ahead of It’s A Dundeel in the Victoria Derby last campaign, while Solemn  should improve with the step up in trip for Darley.
Selections: It’s A Dundeel, Fiveandahalfstar, Hvasstan, Solemn

The Galaxy (SR7) **$250,000 TattsBet First Four Jackpot** - A cracking sprint field has been assembled for this contest, with as many as a dozen runners having a legitimate chance of winning. Three time Group One winner Sea Siren  doesn’t look unfairly treated with 56kg and will get a good run from barrier two. She goes into this first up from a spell but has won two of three when resuming. Lightly raced gelding Unpretentious  made a big impression when winning down the straight on Melbourne Cup day last year and looks well placed in this. He will be flying home at the finish with a light weight and Craig Williams aboard. Three year-old filly Snitzerland treated several of these with complete contempt when running away with the Challenge Stakes in course record time two weeks ago but has risen in the weights, with Howmuchdoyouloveme  4kg better off for finishing third in that event.
Selections: Unpretentious, Sea Siren, Snitzerland, Howmuchdoyouloveme

Ajax Stakes (SR8) – Another great betting heat, with plenty of interest centred on the Queen’s horse Carlton House , who is having his first start in Australia. He is arguably one of the best performed imports ever to land on our shores, having twice finished in the placings at the top level in England, including when runner-up to So You Think at Royal Ascot. Despite having to carry 59kg, he warrants respect. Lightinthenite  has a tremendous first up record (3 wins and a 2nd from 4 starts) and looks set to run a big race from barrier six with James McDonald in the saddle. Monton  and Havana Rey  have good Weight For Age form and should be competitive, while Famous Seamus  is a chance with his light weight.
Selections: Carlton House, Lightinthenite, Monton, Famous Seamus
