More Gold Lotto wins for northern Queensland! $2.22 million prizes claimed in Cairns and Mirani

Monday 11 February, 2013 - Saturday Gold Lotto’s $20 million Superdraw created even more lotto millionaires in northern Queensland on the weekend!

Two winning Saturday Gold Lotto entries worth $2.22 million each were purchased from Edge Hill, Cairns and Mirani, close to Mackay.

The Mirani winners are a local retired couple who said they were absolutely stunned by the news today.

“It’s bloody lovely!” the winning husband said to a Golden Casket official.

“We don’t know how we’ll spend the money just yet, but we’ll speak to a financial planner to get some advice. It will certainly make our retirement more comfortable.

“We’re looking forward to celebrating the news with our children and grandchildren.”

The Mirani winners purchased their winning QuickPick entry from Kookaburra’s Store, 7 Alexandra St, Mirani.

The winning $2.22 million entry purchased in Cairns was sold from Edge Hill Newsagency, 139 Collins Avenue, Edge Hill.

Golden Casket spokesperson Zoe Knobel said these wins continue northern Queensland’s run of ‘lotto luck’.

“Last year, Cairns tied with Brisbane for the coveted title of Queensland’s ‘Lotto Hotspot’, with the most division one wins occurring in those areas in 12-months,” Ms Knobel said.

“With this win in Saturday Gold Lotto’s $20 million Superdraw in Edge Hill, it seems the good fortune for Cairns locals has continued into 2013!”

Throughout Australia, there were nine entries that won a first division share of Saturday Gold Lotto’s $20 million Superdraw division one prize pool on the weekend, each worth $2,222,222.23. Along with the two winning tickets purchased in Queensland, there were two purchased in Western Australia, one each in Victoria, New South Wales, South Australia and the Northern Territory, with one also purchased online from
