Jedinak Returns To EPL Action

Mile Jedinak has been the standout at Crystal Palace this season, but his efforts have counted for little on the scoreboard with the recently promoted outfit in the bottom three with just one win to their credit this season. That 3-1 victory came over cellar dweller Sunderland at the end of August with Ian Holloway’s team losing four games on the bounce, including a 3-1 defeat at Anfield to Liverpool last start.

Palace is playing an open style of football, which is a pleasant change compared to the brand of football served up by most teams trying to stay in the top flight, but with a tough draw to start the season it hasn’t paid dividends. They have conceded a goal in every game so far.

Tuesday morning’s (AEST) opponent Fulham has managed just five goals this season and Martin Jol’s side has found the back of the net just once in three away games. Not surprisingly, the Cottagers’ one win away from home came against Sunderland with a 1-0 victory in the first week of the premiership. They took just one point from their next five starts, but the pressure on Jol eased, somewhat, with a 1-0 victory at Craven Cottage before the international break.

Fulham has been held goalless in nine of their last 16 matches away from home. They should get Scott Parker (calf) and Aaron Hughes (thigh) back from injury. ‘Keeper Marin Stekelenburg is a possibility of returning from a shoulder injury, but if he doesn’t then David Stockdale will start in goal.

Crystal Palace has won just two of the last 19 premiership encounters between these teams. They haven’t met in the EPL since 2005, though.
