Powerball multi-millionaire to volunteer in developing countries

Friday 17 August, 2012 - One young Melbourne man woke up this morning to find that he has ‘the power to change it all’ after winning a division one Powerball prize worth $3 million!

The man in his thirties said he checked the draw results online at Tatts.com when we woke-up, and was in disbelief at what he read.

“I was writing down the numbers and thought, ‘these look very familiar’,” he said.

“Then, when I checked them against the numbers I’d marked on my ticket it was just like, ‘Bang!’ I won!”

The man said like many Australians, he has dreamt of winning Powerball and paying off his mortgage but that’s only part of his plan for how he will spend his windfall.

“I’ll be able to live a more comfortable life now but the prize will also help me to continue what I’ve been doing to support different charities,” the new multi-millionaire said.

“I’ve been involved in raising money for a number of charities and causes for a while and I’m looking forward to continuing that.

“This prize money will give me the opportunity to travel to developing countries and give more of my time to help people in need.”

The winning entry was purchased from Springvale Lotto, Shop 12, 268-274 Springvale Road, Springvale.

There were two division one winners in Victoria in Powerball draw 848 on 16 August 2012, with the other purchased from Campbellfield Lucky Lotto, Campbellfield.

The winning numbers were 28, 30, 23, 15 and 7 with supplementary number 35. There were also 15 division two winners who took home $62,266.90 each.
