Collingwood man to fund children's education with TattsLotto win

Wednesday 1 August, 2012 - Our Aussie Olympians weren’t the only ones who won big over the weekend. Saturday’s TattsLotto game made a winner out of a Collingwood man who claimed more than half a million dollars from the draw!

The winning man in his thirties said, like any athlete who has a big win, he won’t stop working hard despite his good fortune.

“I’ve always longed to win TattsLotto and thought about how I’d give up work if I did, but I was straight back in the office on Monday morning!” he exclaimed.

“This money will definitely make things easier, especially in the current business climate, but I’ll stick with my job.

“Knowing you have that money sitting in the bank certainly makes going to work that little bit more enjoyable!”

The winner said he is still deciding exactly what to do with his prize of $508,773.54.

“It’ll probably go towards property investment at this stage,” he said.

“I’ll be fairly conservative with what I spend it on, it’s just good to know that my children’s education can be taken care of so their future is assured.”

The man said he purchased the winning QuickPick ticket online at while he was buying an entry for a different game.

“I usually only buy tickets in big draws, so I had jumped online on Saturday to buy one for Powerball’s $50 million jackpot this Thursday.

“I wonder if I could win twice in one week?” he laughed.

There were eight division one winning entries nationally in TattsLotto draw 3237 on 28 July 2012, with two in Victoria, one in New South Wales, three in Western Australia and two in South Australia.
