Feature Race Preview 21st July

Open Handicap (MR6) **TattsBet $125,000 First Four Jackpot** - This race brings together a competitive field, but most of the horses at the top of the weights want further than the 1600m here. Prince Of Capers is well suited however, having bagged wins at each of his past two starts. He lumped 58kg to victory at Morphetville two starts back before following that result with a narrow win at Caulfield last Saturday. He is well drawn in barrier two, loves the cut out of the ground and will run well. Future Solution has been racing consistently of late and flew home late to finish 4th, beaten only half a length in the Winter Championship Final last time out. With a better draw and in-form hoop Craig Newitt aboard, he is a leading chance. Former Queensland galloper Streets Away has run well fresh in the past and is not without a chance for new trainer Darren Weir. The five year old has won over the distance, is well drawn and goes on any surface. He is sure to be competitive. Cosmic Causeway deserves respect for champion trainer Peter Moody, while Forty Thirty is another that could be in the finish.
Selections: Streets Away, Prince Of Capers, Future Solution, Forty Thirty

Tattersall’s Mile (BR8) **TattsBet $125,000 First Four Jackpot** - Belltone is one of the best horses going around in Queensland at the moment, but will have to be to win this race. Impressive wins in the Eye Liner at Ipswich and the Glasshouse at the Sunshine Coast have seem the Kelso Wood trained galloper rise markedly in the weights but he has to be a query over the mile with 59kg on a heavy track. While undoubtedly the class runner, he isn’t certain to have things his own way. Carry Me Bluey earnt a well overdue win at Grafton last time out with 58.5kg and will appreciate the considerable weight relief that he gets here over his pet distance (3 wins from 6 starts). The expected heavy track will likely eliminate several of these as genuine winning chances, but Pepperwood and Hour Of Peril are two gallopers that are sure to appreciate the conditions. Pepperwood won a Listed contest at this track during the winter carnival on a heavy surface and will appreciate the step back up in trip to a mile, while the latter was an impressive in the bog at the Gold Coast at the start of the winter carnival.
Selections: Carry Me Bluey, Belltone, Pepperwood, Hour Of Peril
