Monday Night NRL

The Canberra Raiders will hope to extend their impressive record against the Dragons when they lock horns in Monday night football. Both sides have endured their fair share of worries this season failing to find consistency to sit outside the top eight. The Raiders are coming off a bye while the Dragons fought out a hard 8-6 win over the Titans in last week’s game.

History – The Raiders have dominated St George in recent seasons losing just one of their past fourteen games. Their impressive record extends to their home ground where they haven’t lost to the Dragons in twelve years. A Jamie Soward field goal couldn’t save the Dragons in round 20 last season, with Raiders flyer Josh Dugan scoring a long rage try for the Raiders to record an emphatic 24-19 victory.

Dangermen – Although these two teams have been struggling to find momentum of late, they both possess an abundance of attacking ability. The Dragons Jason Nightingale has moved to fullback in the absence of Brett Morris and is sure to feature heavily in the Dragons attacking raids. Jarrod Croker has been impressive for the Raiders this season already crossing for ten tries, the highest of any Raider.

Prediction – Both teams have lacked considerable creativity for the majority of the season. The Dragons are struggling to put points on the board while the Raiders need to tighten their defence. The Raiders record against the Dragons should see them come away with a win. Raiders 1-12 .
