Cadel Evans will be looking to eat into the 1 minute 53 second advantage that Bradley Wiggins  holds over him when the Tour de France resumes with stage ten following Tuesday’s rest day. The Australian will have to rely on his superior climbing ability if he is to record a second straight win in the world toughest bike race and today’s 194.5km journey provides a good opportunity for him to do just that. While there is a strong chance that there will be a breakaway near the start of the stage, a punishing climb with a gradient of up to 12% 43 kilometres from the finish is sure to test those riders and could bring the yellow jersey contenders into the mix, including Wiggins and Vincenzo Nibali .

Renowned climbers Sylvain Chavanel  and Alexandre Vinokourov  are sure to be in the mix, as is stage seven winner Chris Froome . Australia’s Green Edge team will be hoping that Michael Albasini  or Pieter Weening  can deliver them a maiden stage win in le Tour.
