Despite being written off at the start of the season, St Kilda  finds themselves in the top eight after nine games, while the equally chastised Tigers are on the rise after recording wins over Hawthorn and Sydney in May.

After he missed the 2011 season with a serious knee injury, it is like St Kilda has a new signing in Lenny Hayes this year. The 32 year old has played a key role in their resurgence this season and the Saints look a much more composed team with him on the field.

Richmond  has failed to flatter over the past couple of seasons, but they have some good young players that finally appear to be fulfilling their immense talent. Brett Deledio, Trent Cotchin and Dustin Martin are all in good form, while Jack Riewoldt, still only 23, is starting to show glimpses of the form that saw him win the Coleman medal in 2010.

Where It Will be Won – The midfield matchup in this game will be one to savour. Deledio  and Cotchin  have been getting a lot of possessions off the back of Ivan Maric’s strong work. Whether or not they can be equally as dominant against the Saints old heads of Hayes  and Dal Santo  is another question.

Prediction – St Kilda is unbeaten against Richmond since 2003, but the Tigers got close in their last clash with the match ending in a draw. This looks sure to be another close one, but the Saints experience should just about get them home. St Kilda 1-39
