Doomben Racing Preview 12th May

**TattsBet $229,471 Quadrella Jackpot (BR5, BR6, BR7 & BR8)**

Chairman’s Handicap (BR5) – Kiwi stayer Six O’Clock News is the class runner in this event, having finished third behind Shez Sinsational in the Group One Auckland Cup at her last start. She franked that form when winning the Hollindale Stakes last weekend and well in at the weights, he will be tough to beat. In a race that looks to be completely devoid of speed, in form galloper Diago could press forward and get a good run on the pace. Streets Away and Count Encosta have been racing well enough to be competitive in this, while Fantastic Blue is a knockout hope with Chris Munce aboard.
Selections: Six O’Clock News, Diago, Fantastic Blue, Streets Away

Rough Habit Plate (BR6) – Malandrino was ultra-impressive when winning his last start over this trip in New Zealand and stamped himself as a genuine Queensland Derby chance when running away with a Group 3 contest by 2.5 lengths. With boom youngster James Macdonald on board, he is clearly the one to beat. Poste Restante chased him home in that contest and is another visitor capable of running well. She was fourth in the Group 1 New Zealand Oaks and obviously has some class. The best of the locals is Trump, who recorded a strong win over 1600m at his last start, while Isopach and Nashville are other capable of running well.
Selections: Malandrino, Trump, Poste Restante, Isopach

BTC Cup (BR7) – Buffering has been chasing two of the best sprinters in the world in Black Caviar and Hay List for the past twelve months and finally gets his chance to a Group One race in their absence here. Despite having an awkward draw, he is much better than these rivals and should be able to get across to the front and be hard to catch. Varenna Miss would have gone close to winning the TJ Smith with any luck during the Sydney carnival and will get a good run from barrier four. Sea Siren looks highly progressive and has strong form alongside multiple Group 1 winner Streama, but this is the toughest field that she has faced, while Beaded has a great record in Queensland and can win if running to her best. Neeson and Spirit Of Boom look progressive and are other place chances.
Selections: Buffering, Varenna Miss, Beaded, Sea Siren

Class 6 Plate (BR8) – Solzhenitsyn has run big races at both of his starts this preparation and looks perfectly placed to win here under the set weight conditions of this contest. He is well in at the weights, has a perfect record over course and distance and is well drawn. The Rob Heathcote trained gelding chased Oak Street home at his last start and that runner is likely to be tough to beat again. Although this is his toughest test yet, he needs to be respected. Viva Las is perfectly drawn in barrier one and will go straight to the front and be hard to run down, while Mossriver is another that should go well.
Selections: Solzhenitsyn, Viva Las, Oak Street, Mossriver
