St Kilda  and Fremantle have both made a promising start to the 2012 season with two wins from their opening three matches. The Saints suffered an opening round defeat away to Port Adelaide but have returned to Melbourne to record two easy wins over the Suns and Bulldogs in the past two weeks.

Fremantle  were ultra-impressive when opening the season with a three point win over reigning Premier Geelong before going down 94-81 against the Swans in Sydney seven days later. The Dockers scrappy win over Brisbane last weekend may have come at a cost, with star midfielder Nat Fyfe suffering a shoulder injury.

Where It Will be Won – Despite missing all of last year with a knee injury, Lenny Hayes  has started the new campaign in great form. He and Nick Del Santo  form a lethal midfield combination for the Saints and there battle with Dockers tyros David Mundy, Michael Barlow  and Nat Fyfe (if passed fit to play), could go a long way to determining the outcome of the match.

Prediction – Dockers coach Ross Lyon’s knowledge of his former club will be highly beneficial as his side attempts to stop a run of eight consecutive defeats that Fremantle have suffered at the hands of the Saints. Their chances will be boosted greatly if Nat Fyfe is passed fit, but the club was only won three of their last 28 in Melbourne. St Kilda 1-39
