Doncaster Day Racing Preview

Australian Oaks (SR5) – Streama is rated far superior to the horses that she meets in this race, which must be one of the weakest field assembled for a Group One race in recent times. Although unproven over this trip, she was running on strongly over 2000m to finish just behind Mosheen a fortnight ago, who won three races at the top level this preparation. Kiwi raider Full Of Spirit was a dominant winner of the Adrian Knox Stakes last week and represents the main danger after connections paid a late nomination fee to get her into the race. Rock Robster has some decent staying form after winning the Tasmanian Oaks earlier in the year and can battle it out with Thy for a minor placing.
Selections: Streama, Full Of Spirit, Rock Robster, Thy

JRA Plate (SR6) – Western Symbol has returned in fine form this preparation, collecting wins at both of his starts this year and looks the obvious winner in this race. He is on the way to the Brisbane Cup and should be winning this if he is going to be competitive in a race like that. Hawk Island won this race last year on a heavy track and will again be competitive on his favoured surface. He ran an improved race in the BMW last time out and appears to be nearing peak form. Vintedge won a similar race to this at Flemington last year and is one that looks well placed here. She is proven on a wet track and is well weighted. Dance With Her and Larry’s Never Late are place chances.
Selections: Western Symbol, Vintedge, Hawk Island, Dance With Her

Doncaster Mile (SR7) **TattsBet $154,018 Trifecta Jackpot** - Niagara looked absolutely top class when running away with the Ajax Stakes three weeks ago and a repeat of that performance would see him go close to winning this race. He is proven over the trip, has run well on a rain affected track and is well weighted. His biggest danger could be Secret Admirer, who has raced over the Randwick mile twice for two Group One wins. She was a narrow loser in the George Ryder Stakes last time out. Sincero was another that put in a big effort in that contest and will be suited by the conditions of this race. His only run on a heavy track resulted in a five length win. Chris Waller has won two of the past four renewals of this event and his best chances appear to be Rangirangdoo and Shoot Out.
Selections: Niagara, Sincero, Rangirangdoo, Secret Admirer

The Galaxy (SR8) – This appears to be a ridiculously tricky contest with as many as a dozen runners looking to have a winning chance. Nobby Snip has looked highly progressive this campaign after winning all three starts and has to be considered on the minimum weight of 52kg. Temple Of Boom is a Group Two winner who excels on wet tracks and will get his chance with boom Kiwi jockey James McDonald aboard. Bel Sprinter has always had big wraps on him and gets his chance to record a maiden win at the top level, while Title, Winter King and Elite Falls are all knockout chances.
Selections: Nobby Snip, Bel Sprinter, Temple Of Boom, Title
