Inner West man will use Lotto win for retirement

Friday 16 November 2012 - Wednesday Lotto’s $1 million division one winner visited NSW Lotteries head office this afternoon to claim his big prize.

The man, from Sydney’s inner west, who purchased his winning ticket in Marrickville said that he found out about is windfall at lunchtime yesterday and although he was shocked, he continued to work for the rest of the afternoon.

“I was listening to the radio at work yesterday morning and heard the Lotto numbers, I knew they sounded like my numbers so I picked up the results from a newsagent at lunch time,” the winner, in his mid-sixties, said.

“As soon as I saw the numbers I know they were my mine, I have been playing the same numbers for twenty years, I used family birth dates and our ages when I picked them.

“I was so shocked when I realised I had won $1 million I couldn’t eat my lunch, I couldn’t even walk! But I did stay at work and didn’t tell my wife until I got home,” the winner added.

The Lotto winner already has many ideas about how he will use his winnings, one of which is to set himself up for retirement.

“My first thoughts are that we can pay off the mortgage, pay our daughter’s university fees, maybe we will go on a cruise and we will give a gift to the needy.

“I might retire next year, now that I’ve won Lotto I will be able to afford to do so. This is a dream come true,” the delighted winner added.

The $1 million winning Wednesday Lotto System 8 ticket was purchased from Cranes Newsagency at 290 Marrickville Road, Marrickville.

The winning numbers in Wednesday Lotto, draw 3191, were 27, 44, 25, 5, 32 and 10 with the supplementary numbers 30 and 31.
