After losing top spot on the Premier League table to bitter rivals Manchester United last weekend, Chelsea  will be determined to return to the winners circle when they host Liverpool  at Stamford Bridge in the early hours of Monday morning (AEST). Having failed to keep a clean sheet for more than a month, the Londoners will be hoping that the return of captain John Terry from a four game ban for racist abuse will help add some starch to its leaky defence. The Blues have conceded 15 goals in its past seven fixtures in all competitions and looked shaky before finally seeing off Shakhtar Donetsk 3-2  in the Champions League during the week.

Liverpool has made its worst start to a league campaign for 101 years - having collected just two wins and 11 points from its opening 10 matches – but will be confident of getting a result in the capital. Manager Brendan Rogers made nine changes from the side that drew 1-1  with Newcastle last weekend for his side’s Europa League match against Anzhi Makhackala with an eye on this match. Steven Gerrard, Luis Suarez and Daniel Agger are amongst those set to return, while the Reds will also take confidence from the scoreline the last time these clubs met. Liverpool scored a 4-1  win over Chelsea at Anfield in the penultimate round of the Premier League season in May.
