Manchester City v Liverpool

Manchester City strike weapon Mario Balotelli could return from injury to face Liverpool at Eastlands Wednesday morning (AEST) while Liverpool’s Uruguayan Striker Luis Suarez is also expected to return after a one-match ban.

After recent form, many would have thought that City had one hand on the trophy however a shock loss to Sunderland last week would have given The Citizens a much needed reality check heading towards the business end of the season. Thankfully arch rivals Manchester United also suffered a defeat at the hands of Blackburn leaving the two clubs locked at the top of the Premier League table on 45 points apiece.

Liverpool recorded a 3-1 win against Newcastle in their most recent encounter thanks to inform striker Craig Bellamy snaring a double against his old club. The Reds are unbeaten in their last five League matches and boast an impressive record against City. The last time the two clubs met was in November last year with the match finishing in a 1-1 draw thanks to a Manchester City own goal.
