Australia and India lock horns in the second Test of their series when they face off at the Sydney Cricket Ground, starting on Tuesday. The hosts took a 1-0 series lead with their convincing 122 run at the MCG. James Pattinson , Ben Hilfenhaus  and Peter Siddle  all played their part in the win so it is hard to see how the fit again Ryan Harris will be able to squeeze his way into the side.

On the batting front, Ricky Ponting  and Michael Hussey  may have prolonged their international careers with their 115 run stand in the second innings.

Although they will have been disappointed to lose in Melbourne, the tourists can take some positives away from the match. Young pace bowler Umesh Yadav  applied himself well and looked menacing in his first Test match on foreign soil. Pace spearhead Zaheer Zhan  also bowled well and his fitness is key to his side’s chances.

Sachin Tendulkar  will continue his quest for an unprecedented 100th international century after top scoring in both innings of the series opener, but will be looking for more support from his teammates. Gautam Gambhir  looked in particularly poor form and could be replaced at the top of the order by Ajinkya Rahane  who averages an imposing 68 in first class cricket but has not yet made his Test debut.

In the last Test match between the sides at the SCG, Australia won by 122 runs despite first innings centuries by both Laxman and Tendulkar. In the last eighteen Test matches at the venue there has been only one Draw , coming between these teams in the 2004/05 season.
