Sydney Thunder  will be looking to get back in the winner’s circle when they host the high flying Perth Scorchers  at ANZ Stadium on Wednesday night. After starting the campaign well, three straight defeats have left the Thunder’s semi-final chances hanging by a thread and they must win to stay in contention for a top four finish. West Indian import Chris Gayle  has played a lone hand with the bat in the tournament scoring more than half of the teams runs since David Warner’s departure. Fast bowler Trent Copeland could make his debut for the team after Doug Bollinger was ruled out of the competition with a hamstring injury and Fidel Edwards returned to the Caribbean to take part in their domestic t20 competition.

Perth Scorchers have strung together four consecutive wins to shoot to the top of the table and can guarantee themselves a home semi-final by winning in Sydney. Herschelle Gibbs  and skipper Marcus North  have combined to form a formidable opening partnership , putting on 228 runs in their past three matches together. The Scorchers are likely to go into the match with an unchanged side.
