Best new year ever for Riverview battler

Sunday 1 January, 2012 - A Riverview grandmother in her seventies has had ‘the best new year ever’ after finding out she won $968,750 in last night’s Gold Lotto $31 Million New Year’s Eve Megadraw.

The woman, a self-confessed battler, learned of her windfall this morning, when Golden Casket phoned to tell her the good news.

“Oh my goodness; I’m so excited!” she exclaimed.

“I’ve done it tough all my life and have never had much.

“This money will be life changing. This is the best new year ever!”

The woman purchased her winning 12 game QuickPick entry from Collingwood Park Newsagency in the Redbank Plaza Shopping Centre.

Golden Casket Public Relations Executive Louise Azzopardi said the Ipswich region had a great night in Gold Lotto last night, with two division one winners.

“The other division one winning entry was sold from East Ipswich News on Glebe Road, but as thewinning ticket was not registered to a Winners Circle card, we have no way of contacting the winner to tell them the great news,” she said.

“It’s possible the winner is walking around with the equivalent of $968,763.30 in their wallet or handbag, completely unaware of their good fortune.

“If you purchased a ticket in last night’s Megadraw from East Ipswich News, keep it in a safe place and have it checked at a Golden Casket outlet or online at as soon as possible.

“You could be starting 2012 $968,763.30 richer!”

There were 32 division one winning entries nationally in last night’s Gold Lotto Megadraw. There were eight division one winners in Queensland, ten in Western Australia, five each in New South Wales and Victoria, three in South Australia and one in Tasmania.

The winning numbers were 7, 8, 28, 33, 38 and 41. The supplementary numbers were 4 and 37.
