Saturday Lotto win 'a big relief' for ACT family

Tuesday 8 July, 2014 - A Canberra family is looking forward to being mortgage free after winning a division one share in Saturday Lotto worth more than $700,000 in the weekend’s draw!

The winning father said he only discovered they’d won $708,049.82 when he checked the unregistered ticket on the internet on Sunday evening.

“When I realised we’d won, I raced to tell my wife and she didn’t believe me!” the excited winner exclaimed.

“It feels so good to win division one. The first thing we’ll do is pay off our mortgage. I didn’t think we’d be mortgage free for at least another 20 years! It’s a big relief.”

The winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, said his family would also like to use their Saturday Lotto prize money to take a holiday.

“I’ve never been overseas and I didn’t think I’d get the chance until after the kids finished school!”

The division one winning Saturday Lotto 50 game QuickPick entry was purchased from Evatt Newsagency, shops 3 and 4 in Heydon Place, Evatt.

It is the second time in five weeks Evatt Newsagency has sold a division one winning Saturday Lotto ticket and the outlet owner is over the moon. In late May, the same newsagency sold a division one winning entry in Saturday Lotto draw 3429, worth more than $687,000!

Throughout Australia, there were six entries that won a first division share of Saturday Lotto’s estimated $4 million division one prize pool, each worth $708,049.82.

Along with the winning entry purchased in the ACT, two winning entries were sold in Western Australia, and one winning ticket was sold in each New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia.

The winning numbers in Saturday Lotto draw 3439 on 5 July 2014 were 20, 31, 5, 7, 39 and 14 with the supplementary numbers of 18 and 27.
