With two South American sides clashing in a do-or-die match, the World Cup match between Brazil  and Chile  has the potential to be the best game of the tournament yet.

Brazil has so far lived up to pre-tournament high expectations, but Sunday’s match will no doubt be their toughest test thus far. With comprehensive wins over Croatia and Cameroon, and a draw against a stubborn Mexico side, Luis Felipe Scolari’s men are shaping up to be the real deal. Barcelona striker Neymar had a luckless 2013-14 campaign for club, but it seems he’s kept his best performances for World Cup. The skilful youngster has found the back of the net four times in his side’s opening three matches, and some of that success must be credited to his teammates. Chelsea midfielder Oscar especially has been outstanding in the opening three matches, notching a goal for himself and turning provider on countless more occasions.

Chile saw off the Socceroos and reigning champions Spain to finish in second spot in Group B and book a place in the round of 16. Not many people would have expected Chile to perform like they have, but they blew Spain and the Aussies off the park and are a real dark horse in the competition. Alexis Sanchez has led from the frontline, and Juventus playmaker Arturo Vidal has been pivotal in the centre of the park. They have shown frailties at the back though, and with Brazil’s attack in scintillating form, you wonder how they well they will go in containing the pressure.

Brazil are strong favourites to progress into the quarter finals, and deservedly so. The side is in red-hot form and are ruthless in attack. Mix that with the backing of their home supporters, and seem just about unbeatable. Chile, though are more than capable of playing a similar style of free flowing football and although they are the obvious underdogs, they’ll fancy their chances.
