With defending Wimbledon champion, Marion Bartoli, now retired it comes as little surprise to see Serena Williams a firm favourite to win her sixth singles crown at the All England Championships. The 32-year-old takes on Georgian-born American, Anna Tatishvili, in the first-round.
They have only played each other twice before, in Båstad and at the French Open last year, and Williams won on both occasions. But it might be a little different this time around. If Tatishvili can win more than 33 per cent of her rallies with three or fewer shots when returning against her vastly more experienced opponent, she's a real chance of causing a major upset.
It’s a tall order, though, and Tatishvili needs to be psychologically switched on and prepared to get under Williams' skin. A winner of 17 Slams in singles, Williams isn't in the best form of her life, as we saw at the French Open when she lost 6-2 6-2 to Spain's Garbine Muguruza in the second round.
A confidence player, she could be a little vulnerable after her disappointment in Paris last month. An early blitz could just rattle Williams and send the World Number 1 packing.
