The Gold Coast Suns travel to Etihad Stadium on Sunday eager to claim their first ever win at the venue against the Kangaroos in Round 7 of the AFL. Since their introduction into the national competition, the Suns have failed to notch a single victory at the Docklands venue in six visits.

The Kangaroos shocked the Dockers in Perth on ANZAC day with a well-deserved 13-point win. It was Fremantle’s first home loss in 14 matches thanks largely to a spirited North Melbourne final quarter flourish. Kangaroos skipper Brent Harvey was at his influential best, steering his side to victory with a game-high 29 possessions. North Melbourne will regain full-back Scott Thompson after a one week suspension. Daniel Wells has been cleared of a broken foot, but will still miss the weekend’s match. Andrew Swallow set to join him on the sidelines because of an Achilles problem.

Gold Coast have surprised many, heading into this match in sixth position on the ladder. Coming off back-to-back victories over Melbourne and GWS, the Suns will have a much tougher test when they come up against Brad Scott’s men. Gary Ablett has been pivotal in the Suns' success this season. His stellar performances have seen his price plummet in Brownlow Medal betting. Last time the Suns clashed with the Roos, Gold Coast claimed a 2-goal victory at Metricon Stadium. The Suns are expected to welcome back ruckman Tom Nicholls from a calf injury, which would mean Rory Thompson can slide back into his preferred defensive role.

These two combatants go into the clash with a 4-2 record after six rounds. Both were impressive last week and have strong claims to take the four points. But the Suns' Etihad Stadium wipe-out is too hard to ignore and the Kangaroos should post a comfortable home victory.
