Manchester City  can’t afford to drop points this weekend when they travel to Goodison Park to face Everton  in the English Premier League. Currently three points behind league leaders Liverpool with a game in hand, the Sky Blues are firm favourites to lift their second domestic title in three years.

The equation for Manchester City is simple; win their final three games and, with the exception of a Liverpool miracle, be crowned the champions of England for the fourth time. This weekend’s match against the Toffees looks by far the hardest match of the remaining three. Everton have been solid this season, especially at Goodison Park. Out of 18 home matches, the Toffees have only tasted defeat twice. City took the three points against Everton earlier in the season, when the two sides met in Manchester with a comfortable 3-1  triumph. Manuel Pellegrini should field a side close to full-strength, with star striker Sergio Aguero working his way back into the squad following a lengthy stint on the sidelines through injury. He may find it hard to get back into the starting line-up though, with fellow striker Edin Dzeko instrumental in his side's recent results.

Everton have ambitions of their own and continue to eye fourth spot on the table. Finishing fourth would guarantee them qualification into next season’s UEFA Champions League ahead of North-Londoners Arsenal. Anything less than a win will all but end the Toffee’s hopes of finishing in fourth, a feat that would be a massive achievement for manager Roberto Martinez in his debut season for the club. The last time Everton hosted City, they recorded a 2-0  win.

This match is undoubtedly the highlight of this weekend’s fixtures. With so much on the line for both squads, it all comes down to 90 minutes which will define their seasons. Manchester City are firm favourites, but with Everton’s sterling home record this campaign, the Sky Blues will have to put in close to a season best performance to leave Goodison Park with the three points.
