Adelaide Crows v Melbourne Demons
Saturday May 3 – 4:40 PM (AEST)
The Adelaide Crows are set to claim their fourth-straight win when the face the 17th placed Melbourne Demons on Saturday. With Melbourne having only won one game this season, the odds are firmly in favour of the home side.
Losing their first three games definitely wasn’t how the Crows hoped the start of the season would pan out. Tough matches against the Cats, Port Adelaide and the Swans left them licking their wounds. But some strong performances from Josh Jenkins and Tom Lynch up front helped put their season back on track, winning three in a row. Key inclusions for the Crows are Ben Rutten, returning from a hamstring injury, and Taylor Walker, who looks set to make his long-awaited return after playing in the SANFL on the weekend.
The Demons are trying to pull themselves out of another slump. Struggling to find any form, the season would be hard to watch for any Melbourne fan. With the return of former Crow Bernie Vince to Adelaide Oval, and given the controversial split between the two, there are bound to be some fireworks. Alex Georgiou has been cleared to play after accepting a reprimand for striking Buddy Franklin in Saturday's game against the Swans, and Colin Garland could play his first game of the season for the Demons.
If you go off form alone, the Crows have this one hands down. But you can never completely discount 'desperate Demons', fired up by coach Paul Roos.
