Wednesday 28 May, 2014 - A group of 16 workmates in Melbourne is celebrating today after their ticket in last night’s Oz Lotto draw won them $15 million!
The division one winning ticket was purchased in Doncaster East and the 16 winners aged between their early-30s to mid-50s will take home more than $937,000 each.
“We always play the big Oz Lotto jackpot draws together,” one of the winners told a Tatts official today.
“When I called everyone last night they thought I was just joking around, but I said ‘I wouldn’t be ringing you this late to play games – we’ve won Oz Lotto!’
“We’re all planning to do things like pay off the mortgage and take a holiday.”
Another one of the colleagues told a Tatts official he was looking further ahead to his retirement.
“I’m pretty conscientious. I’m at work right now and I’ll continue to work now that I’ve won, but down the track this prize money will be like a retirement bonus for me!” he said.
“I’ll use some of the prize money to pay off my son’s mortgage for him too,” the winner added.
Last night’s first division Oz Lotto jackpot prize of $30 million was shared by the 16-member syndicate in Melbourne along with a ticket purchased by a couple on the Gold Coast. Both entries will claim $15 million of the $30 million jackpot prize pool.
The division one winning Oz Lotto System 8 QuickPick entry in Victoria was purchased from The Pines Lotto & Confectionery, Shop 03A in The Pines Shopping Centre, 181 Reynolds Road in Doncaster East.
The winning numbers in Oz Lotto draw 1058 on 27 May 2014 were 32, 12, 3, 23, 40, 2 and 19 with the supplementary numbers 6 and 37. Oz Lotto will offer a $2 million division one prize in next Tuesday’s draw.
