The Kangaroos  welcome bottom of the ladder Brisbane  to Etihad Stadium on Saturday in Round 9 of the AFL.

On paper, all things point to a Kangaroos win. With victories over top four contenders Port Adelaide, Sydney and Fremantle, coach Brad Scott is be confident his men are capable of dismantling the Lions. The Roos received a massive boost heading into this one, with club captain Andrew Swallow making his return to the side after 10 months out following a ruptured Achillies. Nathan Grima hasn’t recovered from a foot injury in time for the weekend, which gives Sam Wright a run in the senior team. Robin Nahas joins Wright in the squad, with Micahel Firrito and Brad McKenzie both omitted.

Calling Brisbane the teeny-bopper Bears last week was certainly no insult. The Lions were wearing their famously old Brisbane Bears jumper and they featured seven teenagers in their side for the fourth week in a row (Sam Mayes, Marco Paparone, James Aish, Lewis Taylor, Nick Robertson, Tom Cutler and Darcy Gardiner). And, while the Lions senior players are struggling for form, the youngsters are gunning it. Paparone enjoyed a career-best 29-possession game, while Aish was again impressive.

Although they almost edged the Bombers last week, the Lions look a beaten team even before the first whistle, and the betting reflects it. The Kangaroos would have relished the week off, especially after their Round 7 loss to the Suns. North Melbourne will be weary of the visitors though, the last time the two sides met at the Gabba last year, Brisbane prevailed by two goals.
