Infulential forward Tex Walker returns from a year on the sidelines in the Crows' Thursday night AFL match against the Pies .
Adelaide is desperate to get back into winning ways after a shock defeat at the hands of Melbourne in Round 7. The Crows, who have benefited from a week off, welcome back a couple of key players. Charismatic forward, Taylor ‘Tex’ Walker, will make his highly anticipated return for the club after a year on the sidelines following a knee reconstruction. Joining him is midfielder Richard Douglas after serving a suspension, but Patrick Dangerfield is 50/50, after spending last week in a moon boot to treat a sprained ankle. Tom Lynch and Matthew Jaensch will definitely sit this match out with jaw and rib injuries respectively.
Magpies coach Nathan Buckley has plenty of big selection decisions to make this week with a host of players returning from injury. The Pies also profited from a bye last week following a 34-point win over Carlton, and the break has given players extra time to freshen up. Passionate Collingwood fans could see Bucks make up to four changes. Nick Maxwell, Alex Fasolo and Alan Toovey have all been passed fit to play following injuries suffered during the Anzac Day win over Essendon. Clinton Young has until just before first ball-up to show he has recovered from a corked thigh, while Sam Dwyer is expected to take the field despite picking up a knee injury in the victory over Carlton.
The Pies head into this game as favourites and if history repeats itself, a Collingwood victory looks on the cards. The Crows have only won one of the past nine meetings with the Pies, and despite the return of big Tex Walker, they will have a hard time to contain their opponents, especially in the midfield with Pendelbury, Beams and Swan all in top form.
